Time is Money. Or is it?

Where have I heard it? Just this morning, while speaking to a vendor. I, myself, have repeated the phrase, ‘time is money’, multiple times to multiple people before. It was either to push someone to take action or even just to prove a point.

Being in the ‘conversing with my mind’ phase which I am, today after hanging up the call with the vendor, ‘the time is money’ statement haunted me, till I actually sat down to understand and write about it.

Let us begin by breaking down what we generally say about time:

- Time is Money

- Time is a healer

- Time is a teacher

- Time needs to spent wisely

- Time needs to be valued

- Time waits for none

- More time, less time

- Time is relative (this is my learning off late)

So what is time after all? Is it money, a healer, a teacher? or the most precious thing in the world?

I think it is what we need in any particular moment, and time becomes that! Is time then just a perspective??

(What could be precious for one person, need not be precious for another individual in any given moment)

And, if time is a perspective, it need not be the same for everyone. We all have our own perspectives after all! Wouldn’t it be easier that rather than generalizing what time is, we can leave it to every individual to figure what it means for them, at that moment? And hence, the need to adopt the version of what time means for someone else could be easily diluted. Thus bringing back ease within ourselves.

I didn’t mean to go philosopher-like on time and money. My purpose is to live beautifully within and with ease of thoughts and feelings. Hence, when I heard in the morning — ‘time is money,’ it bothered me and I felt maybe I was not valuing money by not valuing time enough (as seen through someone else’s eyes). Understanding now that ‘time could be a perspective’ is bringing me back to my original state of peace, where I can create whatever I wish for myself. I will stay with this thought till I completely absorb it and go back to being worry-free :)
