Humongous magmatic stones, endless expansive views, hidden scenic locations at every corner, food which satisfies the soul and history of the past, which could bring one closer to the present. This is how I would describe Hampi!

Hampi has made a permanent place in my heart. From the word go, I knew this place would wow me. Sharing a few wow moments of my trip:

- The Bangalore — Hampi road was on point and top-notch. Begin early morning to witness the sun rising

- The Chitradurga Fort, mid-way was an impromptu stop. It was a glance into what Hampi would offer and it was worth the time spent here

- Hotel Malligi in Hospet was the abode for the four days I spent in Hampi. It was as enigmatic and charming as Hampi itself. Fantastic food, intriguing architecture and an earthy spa, made it worth the while

- Must-do’s are:

o Virupaksha Temple: a lot has been said about it. What I loved equally were the hours spent on the riverside just behind the temple .

o The restaurant ‘Mango Tree’ became a hub for repeat lunches and dinners. The mysticism of the neon art all around the place, the friendly seating on the ground, the playlist of songs to die for, and most of all the food!

o The stop at the lake side, between Hampi and Hospet, to witness the sunset turned out to be a daily ritual.

o The Vijaya Vittala temple, its history and unique architecture took the breath away. The route towards Sugreev’s cave and riverside, behind the temple was an astounding surprise. Most of the hours were spent here.

o The magical Yantrodharaka temple, the tales of Hazara Rama Temple, the sunset point at Malyavanta hill, the evening spent behind the watchtower, were all blessed moments.

Without expectations, I stepped in the wonderland that is Hampi, and it kept offering. I waved goodbye and promised to come again…
